Shenzhen Futian Plot No. B301-0064 Tower is a mixed-use development comprising 46,000 square meters of premium office space, serviced apartments, and retail facilities. The project establishes itself as a cultural and civic anchor within the evolving urban fabric of the Zhuzilin District.
The design draws inspiration from Xiguan Mansion, a quintessential form of Lingnan vernacular architecture. Translating the logic of the “linear wall-defined space” from traditional courtyard dwellings, the tower’s structural grid and axial system reinterpret the ordering principles of historic Lingnan homes. By vertically stacking the horizontal courtyard logic, the project constructs a “vertical city” system that integrates commerce, office, and residential functions—a contemporary vertical interpretation of a traditionally horizontal dwelling typology.
The tower’s façade system carries forward the environmental wisdom of Xiguan Mansion’s porous volumes and natural ventilation strategies. Through meticulous curtain wall articulation, the design recaptures the passive cooling logic of traditional cold lanes and skylights, endowing the tower with “breathability” and “self-shading” capabilities. This approach significantly reduces energy consumption while fostering a healthy microclimate, re-establishing a dialogue between the building and its natural environment.
Sheathed in a refined curtain wall that shifts in transparency and opacity, the tower’s form gently tapers as it rises, creating a distinctive silhouette while optimizing interior floor plates. At its base, retail podiums integrate with the surrounding streetscape, while connections to the broader transportation network—including nearby metro stations—are woven through the podium’s lower levels, linking the development to the city.
The tower represents a synthesis of cultural memory and contemporary urbanism-a project where Lingnan’s architectural heritage finds new expression in the pursuit of a timeless, sustainable high-rise typology.
